The small claims court is for cases that are valued less than £5,000. If the case is a personal injury one, it will only be allocated to the small claims court if it is under £1,000. If the parties agree, a case valued at more than £5,000 can still be dealt within the small claims court. Commonly heard claims are for compensation, claims as a result of dispute, an example of which could be for for wages in lieu of notice. You should be aware that there are time limits for making claims.
