“Volunteers are the glue which binds the community together. Each volunteer has something unique and valuable to offer – a special contribution which cannot be provided by statutory employees and which makes a special difference to the lives of those they work with. If every volunteer took a day off from their voluntary work tomorrow, the general public would be amazed to see what a huge contribution volunteers make to our society in so many ways we may never have dreamed of.”
Volunteer Centre Hounslow recruits, interviews and places volunteers in community groups, voluntary organisations and, where appropriate, statutory agencies in the London Borough of Hounslow. It also manages projects providing direct services to vulnerable members of the community – see our projects page – and brokers mutually beneficial activities and gifts in kind from the private to the voluntary sector.
Volunteer Centre Hounslow receives a small core grant and its premises in the Treaty Centre from the London Borough of Hounslow. Its services are also supported by a number of trusts and foundations, the Big Lottery and many other smaller donors, private sector companies and individuals.
Volunteer Centre Hounslow was established in 1978, since when it had expanded and adapted to meet the needs of volunteers, voluntary and community groups and older, disabled and vulnerable members of the community.
