The WHOIS database is a publically available database which records the
name, address, phone number, fax number, email address and other
miscellaneous information about the owner of a domain name. Governing bodies
require that service providers keep this information accurate and upto date.
This has always lead to problems which eventually end up with the owner of
the domain losing out.
Our Domain Protection service replaces the publically available information
for your domain name with the
details of a third party. This provides you with the following benefits:
- Spammers will be unable to use WHOIS to obtain your email address
- Telemarketers can't use WHOIS to obtain your telephone or your fax number
- Companies which send out fake domain name invoices will be unable to send them to you
- Transfers away from Lawyers Online's control will be automatically blocked
- Your registration will be pseudo-anonymous, so the only information about you is whats on your website
The method used to do this confirms to
ICANN
policies. You still remain as the owner of the Domain Name and
retain your legal rights.
